The children’s interest in sunflowers, and flowers continues!
Last night I soaked a handful of sunflower seeds. This allowed them to swell, as well as allowed me to open them more easily. At our science centre, I put out magnifying glasses with the seeds. I also set out pencil crayons and journals (we created “Science Journals” for them to record/draw in). The children could look at the seeds through the magnifying glass and then draw what they saw to record their findings.
They didn’t have to do the drawing. That was something they could choose to do. Most of them wanted to draw what they saw though. They showed real pride in what they had learned and put in their journals.
